0 A.D. for MAC
Free, open-source real-time strategy game of ancient warfare for Mac. Lead one of 15 factions in skirmishes, scenarios and online matches.
0 A.D. Overview
0 A.D. is a free, open-source real-time strategy game of ancient warfare, made by Wildfire Games, an international group of volunteer game developers. Each civilization is unique in its appearance and gameplay, including its units, structures and technology trees. Many infantry and cavalry units are citizen soldiers: they fight, gather resources and construct buildings, and they get stronger in battle as they rise through the ranks.
The code is released under the GPL version 2 and the artwork under CC-BY-SA 3.0, and the developers say you can always download it completely free from them. Release 28, named Boiorix, is the first version without the Alpha label. It adds a new faction, the Germans, who bring the total to 15. The Mac downloads are large, about 1.67 GB each. The Intel build needs macOS 10.15 or later and the Apple Silicon build needs macOS 11 or later.
One known problem on the Mac: for some users, the game can crash when opening the multiplayer lobby. The project says this can be fixed by disabling TLS Encryption under Settings > Options > Lobby. Before updating, deactivate every mod to avoid conflicts.
